Nano-calcium carbonate vs nano-glass: Improving fire and corrosion resistance in ultra-high performance concrete
Research Description
This study compares the effects of nano-calcium carbonate and nano-glass on ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). The results showed that incorporating 1% nanomaterials improved compressive strength, flexural strength, and corrosion resistance, with nano-glass demonstrating superior performance in flexural strength and corrosion protection. Both nanomaterials also enhanced the concrete microstructure. However, the nano-modified concretes exhibited greater deterioration when exposed to very high fire temperatures, indicating that additional fire protection measures may be required for applications in fire-prone structures.
